Travel Directions

Lectures are held in the NEW Podell Auditorium located at the Bernstein Pavilion of Beth Israel Medical Center. This is the same building where the Friday night groups meet. The auditorium is on the first floor.

Our East Side discussion group meets at the Bernstein Pavilion of Beth Israel Medical Center, which can be hard to find. It is between 15th and 16th streets and between First and Second Avenues. However, the main entrance is on a small side street called Nathan Perlman Place.

To get there from First Avenue, walk west on 16th street. When 16th street runs into Stuyvesant Square park, you are on Nathan Perlman Place. Make a left, the entrance is between 16th Street and 15th Street. It is the only building on the block. See a Google map of the area.

IN THE BUILDING

For the discussion groups, go to the second floor initially to check-in. Groups meet on either the second floor or the ground floor. There will be signs in the lobby directing you within the building.

BY CAR

Metered parking is available on the street. Some garages nearby are below. Listing these garages, is not meant to imply that MDSG recommends them.

• The Gilman Hall Garage on 17th Street just off First Avenue. Open 24 hours a day.

BY BUS

• The M15 bus runs North on First avenue and South on Second avenue. It stops at 17th street.
• Both the M14 and the M9 buses run across 14th street and stop at First and Second avenue. 

BY SUBWAY

Many trains stop at the Union Square station on 14th Street.

• The Lexington Avenue lines 4 train, 5 train and 6 train stop there. 
• On the BMT the N train and the R train stop at Union Square. 
• Although Union Square is walking distance to Beth Israel, the nearest subway station to Beth Israel is on First Avenue and 14th Street where the L train (Canarsie Line) stops. You can transfer at Union Square for the L train -- take the L to Canarsie (Brooklyn), not towards 8th Avenue. From Union Square, it is two stops to First Avenue and 14th Street. Be in the last car of the train.

The West Side groups meet at 411 West 114th Street (6th floor) between Amsterdam Avenue and Morningside Drive.

Doors open at 7:00 PM and groups begin at 7:30 PM.

BY SUBWAY

• The closest subway is the #1 train, the 116th Street/Columbia University stop is on Broadway, one block from Amsterdam Avenue.
• Also close are the B train and the C train which both stop at 110th Street Cathedral Parkway.

BY BUS

• Three buses run on Broadway, the #104, #4 and #60
• The #11 bus runs on Amsterdam Avenue
• The #5 bus runs on Riverside Drive.
